Lotions & Lubes

Lubrication can be an important addition to your sex life. Whether this be an aromatic oil for sensual massage, or a lube to help your favourite sex toy glide more easily, there is a large range of different types to choose from.

Water based lubricants are generally the safest option if you're not sure what to buy. They're compatible with condoms, all kinds of sex toy, and are easy to clean up afterwards. There are a couple of drawbacks however in that they sometimes contain glycerine, which can be a source of irritation to a woman's vaginal area unless washed off thoroughly. They also may not be as slippery or long lasting as oil or silicone based lubes.

Oil based lubes are good for massage sessions, but can react to rubber so you should avoid using these with rubber based sex toys, and do not use with latex condoms which can disintegrate.

Silicone lubricants are the most slippery and are also great for sensual massage, but can be a bit difficult to clean up. The odd thing about these though is that they will attack silicone sex toys so should NOT be used in conjunction with them, unless you protect your vibrator or dildo first with a latex condom! They will be perfectly safe to use with toys made from other materials though.
